Mateja Markovic ’20

By May 13, 2020Student Spotlight

Mateja Markovic is the very definition of a TRIPLE-THREAT! Originally from Belgrade, Serbia, Mateja has been a member of the Knox student body since ninth grade. Over the years, he has flourished academically, athletically, and artistically. Not only is he Valedictorian of the class of 2020 – an honor that is reserved for the student with the highest academic merit – he is a State Champion crew racer who has competed at the National level, and is a gifted musician and performer who enchanted his audience while starring in the lead role of Bobby Strong in the 2019 Knox production of Urinetown.

Although the Knox community will miss Mateja’s positive and commanding presence on campus next year, we are pleased that he will remain just a ferry-ride away from his Home Beside the Shore as he enters his Freshman year at Trinity College in Connecticut, where he plans to major in engineering and minor in music.

Until we see our friend Mateja again, we wish him the best of luck in the next phase of his life’s journey.
