Knox Theatre presents at least two full productions each season. These productions afford students the opportunity to apply their skills in performing arts to the demanding challenges of presenting live theatre before a packed audience. Working with the same drive, discipline, and commitment to excellence as Varsity athletes, our actors and technicians receive accolades from the audience as well as from their peers.

Our 2018-19 season featured three productions: Almost, Maine, a play about love lost and love found, centered around a fictional town in Northern Maine; Peter Pan JR, an adaptation of the classic story about a young boy who refuses to grow up, featuring students from our Middle School Performing Arts class; and Urinetown, the satirical musical comedy and two-time Tony Award winner about a town on the verge of collapse and a young girl struggling to do what’s right.

Peter Pan, Jr.

A musical based on the play by Sir. J.M. Barrie
Lyrics by Carolyn Leigh

Based on J.M. Barrie’s classic tale and featuring an unforgettable score, Peter Pan is one of the most beloved tales of all time. This Tony-Award winning musical is performed all over the world and is now adapted in this shortened version for young performers. When Peter and his sidekick Tinkerbell visit the Darling family nursery, they begin a magical journey that none of them will ever forget. In the adventure of a lifetime, these young travelers face man-eating crocodiles, a fierce Indian tribe, vicious pirates, and Peter’s nemesis, the infamous Captain Hook.

This production is performed by the students of the Knox Middle School as part of their Middle School Arts Experience.

Almost, Maine

A play by John Cariani

Almost, Maine is set in a remote, mythical town underneath the Northern Lights, a place where people can’t seem to get love straight. Told through a series of nine vignettes and short scenes, John Cariani’s characters struggle with love in all its forms – love lost and found, broken hearts, reconnecting, and letting go. At times painful and other times hilarious, Almost, Maine is a beautiful and poignant play that is perfect for a large cast of actors to showcase their talents.
